Been using the Wii with my wife and 4 year old daughter. Daughter likes it 'cause you need zero concentration and skill to do bowling.

Now I gotta figure out a way to get the IR sensor bar to stay on top of the projector screen. Pain in the ass these things.

I figure the Wii is a good intro for my daughter, as she will be forced into Halo 6 Death Matches with me in the distant future. Gotta get those little fingers in shape.

Interesting topic, the Wii... I enjoy the classic titles and the legendary Nintendo cannon. I haven't really gotten into the whole "Wii Fit" thing. Eat that, Nintendo!

While I enjoy keeping up with the great first-party games, the Wii pretty much blows in regards to any kind of online activity. For Nintendo, the social thing happens in the living room. Jim dandy and all, but not usually practical.

As for a wireless "Wii bar" Funk and I made our own. $7 at Trash Shack gets you the parts you need to convert the wii bar that comes in the box.

We have a Wii. I got it for my wife and daughter last summer with the Wii fit. Cool game I have some games for it but not realy my choise for gaming. I will say StarWars Clone Wars Light Saber Duels is a cool game if you're a StarWars fan. The FPS are a challenge as you need the gun and using the controler on the back of the gun to mov around takes some getting used to. Wii Sports is a great family interaction game. But FPS a no. although some of the games like House of the Dead is fun. Mario Kart Racing is a fun one also.

Myself, I still prefer the 360 for my gaming choice. All in all you wont be disapointed getting it.

Family wise, it's a great pickup.

I got Wii Fit for my wife to help motivate her to exercise more. As with all exercise equipment it worked good for 2 months then she quit. She still gets on the balance board to check her weight every now and then though. Wii fit is actually fun for the whole family. Now that the price has dropped to $199 I have three words for you. . . . PICK IT UP. You will be glad you did.

As far as mics go for the Wii, none exist so far as I have seen. As far as the IR bar goes, check on amazon, they have some starting at around $10. I personally like the one that was $20 that says something about sounding like a fire alarm going off when it has been on for 1-2 hours, kinda like it's saying,"I know you're playing me & everything but I need you to hit a reset button so I know you're still playing me or I will cut myself off."

Hmm. Ya, its for my wife and kid. Do you know how long the cable is that sits on top of the tv? I've got a projector, so I need about 20 feet or so from the screen to the ceiling, inside the wall and out to the console. I've seen a wireless controller reciever (whatever you call it). Wonder if that works ok?

Is there a mic to talk to another friend playing online? -Moneyknuckler

IMO the Wii sucks as far as matchmaking. But I would not let that stop you from picking it up. Overall I think it is a great console. The control and games are unique and very entertaining. You are and your wife will have a blast competing against each other in bowling, golf, and tennis, with the supplied Wii Sports cart.
